Bright Hydraulic Gallows

Hydraulically lifted multinoose gallows with struggle, death, & sex animations.

DESCRIPTION

The Bright Hydraulic Gallows is a mechanically operated, multi-noose execution system for up to ten victims.

A menu allows you to choose how many nooses you wish the gallows to offer, from one to ten: the gallows automatically stretching to accomodate the number required at 1m intervals.

On the platform beneath each noose is a white cross, marking the positions on which the victims must stand. Behind each victim may stand an executioner, allowing up to 20 people to roleplay on a single gallows!

A victim may obtain free cuffs from the gallows, and if no executioner is standing behind them, may trigger a hanging themselves, to allow solo roleplay.

However, if an executioner is standing behind them, their victim loses the ability to hang themselves. The executioner may have sex with their victim, choosing from a menu of positions, and trigger a hanging when they wish.

Executioners may also choose from a menu of non-sexual poses, allowing them to stand, pace, or even mockingly dance as their victim awaits their fate.

When a hanging is triggered, the sound of hydraulic machinery will be heard as the crossbeam is pushed into the air, pulling up victims simultaneously. A few may die instantly as their necks are broken, but most will struggle for some time as they asphyxiate - the gallows creating the sound of creaking ropes.

An optional podium, featuring a lever, may be rezzed in front of and facing the gallows (though it is a separate object, and may be placed anywhere). A single executioner may stand at this podium facing the victims, and trigger the hanging by pulling the lever.

The gallows is highly configurable, and offers many other features. A hydraulic pump mechanism may be rezzed or hidden as scene dressing. A menu system allows the entire gallows to be retextured with a single click, offering a choice of looks: modern and industrial, rusted and neglected, even futuristic and scifi.

The Bright Hydraulic Gallows is an unusual, modern take on this form of execution, perfect for scene dressing, or group adult roleplay.

It'll take your breath away.

1. REZZING THE GALLOWS

Before rezzing, if you can, enable the "Bright Experience" on your parcel. The gallows will work without it, but it will allow the gallows to retain permissions, so that a victim is not asked for permission to attach a noose each time they use it. It will also store each user's personal setting adjustments (such as vertical position and noose positioning), and automatically reapply them when they use the gallows again.

To enable the experience, right-click the ground and select “About Land...”. In the “About Land” window, click the “Experiences” tab. By the “Allowed Experiences” list, click “Add... Enter “Bright” in the search box, and click “Go”. Finally, highlight “Bright Experience” in the list, and click “OK”.

To unpack the gallows, find the object "Hydraulic Gallows boxed" in your inventory and drag it to the ground to rez it. Then right-click the box, select "Open" from the pop-up menu to display its "Contents" window, and click the "Copy To Inventory" button at the bottom.

This will create a folder called "Hydraulic Gallows boxed" in your inventory, containing the “Hydraulic Gallows” object. Rez this.

When first rezzed, all you will see is a small base, and short vertical arms.

Click the base to display the gallows menu. This is explained in more detail below, but for now, click the [NOOSES] button, and then a button between [1 NOOSE] and [10 NOOSES].

The gallows will rez a cross beam, and the who unit will stretch to offer the number of nooses chosen. White crosses will appear on the base, indicating the positions at which victims should stand. They are 1m apart, with 1m left at either end, so (say) a 4 noose gallows will have a base 6m wide.

2. USING THE GALLOWS

To use the gallows, click one of the white crosses on the base. You will be asked if you wish to be victim or executioner.

If you chose victim, you will be posed on the cross, and a noose will attach itself to your neck. Click it, or say "/1 NOOSE" in chat, to display a menu which will allow you to adjust its size or position.

Click the white cross under your feet again to display a menu which will allow you to adjust your avatars vertical position, obtain free cuffs to wear, or dismount.

If you chose executioner, you will be posed behind the white cross. Click the cross for a menu which will allow you to adjust your vertical position, perform an "action" (like standing, walking, pacing), have sex with the victim on the same white cross (if there is one), or dismount.

Click the upward pointing arrow on either arm of the gallows to begin a hanging. (This may be clicked by an executioner, or a victim who has no executioner on the same cross.) Clicking the downward arrow will lower the crossbeam and return the victims to the ground.

If a podium has been rezzed (see below), right-click the podium and select "Sit Here" to use it. Then, when one or more victims are on the gallows, click the up or down arrows on the podium to operate it.

3. CONFIGURING THE GALLOWS: THE GALLOWS MENU

Clicking the base of the gallows (away from the white circles marking the individual platforms) will display a configuration menu. (Note: this menu will only appear for you, as the system owner. Other residents will not see this.)

[RESET] to reset gallows
[NOOSES] to set/change number of nooses
[PODIUM]/[NO PODIUM] to rez/hide the podium
[PUMP]/[NO PUMP] to show/hide the pump
[TEXTURES] to retexture the gallows
[ARROWS ON] to enable arrows
[ARROWS OFF] to disable arrows
[DEACTIVATE] before moving/deleting gallows

Each option is described below.

3.1 [NOOSES] - CHANGING THE NUMBER OF NOOSES

You may change the number of nooses offered by the gallows at any time by clicking [NOOSES] to display this submenu:

How many nooses are needed?

[1 NOOSE] [<BACK]
[2 NOOSES] [3 NOOSES] [4 NOOSES]
[5 NOOSES] [6 NOOSES] [7 NOOSES]
[8 NOOSES] [9 NOOSES] [10 NOOSES]

Simply click the button corresponding to the number of nooses you need.

Bear in mind that while the centre of the gallows will remain in the same place, the gallows width will grow or shrink to accommodate the number of nooses you choose.

Each noose requires 1m of width, and the gallows has an extra 1m at each end, so the width can vary from 3m (for a single noose) to12m (for ten).

3.2 [PODIUM]/[NO PODIUM] - REZZING AND USING A PODIUM

Click the [PODIUM] button on the main menu to rez a podium in front of the gallows, and [NO PODIUM] to remove it once rezzed.

The podium may be moved anywhere on the same parcel. Each gallows may only have one podium. If you click the [PODIUM] button on the menu when a podium has already been rezzed, it will disappear before the new one is rezzed.

To use the podium, any resident may simply right-click it and choose “Sit Here”.

If they click the up arrow, the beam of the gallows from which the podium came will rise (providing there is at least one victim on that gallows).

If they click the down arrow, the beam of the same gallows will be lowered to its original position (provided it was previously raised).

To the right of the arrow buttons, the podium also has a large round button, which may be red or green.

If it is red, then the podium will only raise or lower the beam of the gallows from which it was rezzed.

If it is green, the podium will raise or lower the beam of any gallows on the same parcel of land which also belongs to you.

As owner, if you click the button, it will switch between red and green, switching between controlling a single gallows, and controlling all the gallows on the parcel. No one else may change this setting. If anyone else clicks the button, they will simply be told which mode the podium is in: the mode will not change.

3.3 [PUMP]/[NO PUMP] - SHOWING AND HIDING THE PUMP

To add a visible hydraulic pump to the gallows, click the [PUMP] button on the main menu.

Most large hydraulic systems are driven by an industrial pump which drives pressurised liquid into chambers between the surfaces of independently moving components, forcing those surfaces apart and so causing movement.

Clicking [PUMP] allows this such a pump to be made a visible part of the system. However, if you prefer the appearance of the gallows without it, click [NO PUMP] and it will disappear.

The pump is purely cosmetic – its presence makes no difference to the function of the gallows.

3.4 [TEXTURES] - CHANGING GALLOWS TEXTURES

Click the [TEXTURES] button on the main menu to display the texture changing menu:

Please choose a texture scheme,
...or 'CUSTOM' for a custom scheme.

[Red/Black] [Yellow/Black] [Spaceport]
[Industrial] [Rusted] [Yellow/Grey]
[Hexagonal] [Portal] [Wood1]
[Wood2] [All Black] [CUSTOM]

Out of the box, the Hydraulic Gallows has a “Red/Black” colour scheme.

This menu allows this to be changed, offering 11 colour schemes in total.

Clicking [Spaceport], for instance, will give the gallows, and any associated podium, a more futuristic, sci-fi look.

Clicking [CUSTOM] allows you greater control to change individual textures. It will display the following menu:

Please choose a surface to change,
...or '<MAIN' to return to the main menu.
[Floor]
[Beam] [Shaft] [Hook]
[Arrow] [Rope] [<MAIN]

Click [Floor] to change the texture on the main floor of the gallows (which is echoed elsewhere in the design), [Beam] to change the texture of the overhead beam and the arms supporting it, and so on.

[Shaft] lets you set the texture of the hydraulic shaft within the arm, which can only be seen when the beam is raised.

So let’s say you wished to change the colour of the arrow buttons. Click [ARROW] to display this menu:

Please choose a new arrow texture
...or '<'/'>' to see more options
...or '<SURFACES' to return to the surface menu.

[Red Hazard] [Yel. Hazard] [Black Steel]
[Yellow Plate] [Space Floor] [Space Wall]
[Steel Mesh] [Rusty Plate] [Rusty Steel]
[<SURFACES] [<] [>]

The first 9 possible textures will be shown on this menu: but clicking the [<] and [>] buttons will allow you to page through all those available. Clicking [>] twice will show this selection:

Please choose a new arrow texture
...or '<'/'>' to see more options
...or '<SURFACES' to return to the surface menu.

[White Glow] [Grey Glow] [Black Glow]
[Red Glow] [Green Glow] [Blue Glow]
[Cyan Glow] [Orange Glow] [Yellow Glow]
[<SURFACES] [<] [>]

Finally, clicking (say) [Green Glow] will set the arrows to glow greenly, while leaving all the other textures of the gallows unaffected.

NOTE: When you use the [NOOSES] option to change the number of nooses, the beam carrying the nooses will be rerezzed, and it will carry the original red/black colour scheme. Also, if you use {PODIUM] to rez a new podium, this too will be red/black. Use the [TEXTURES] menu to reapply your chosen texture.

3.5 [ARROWS ON/OFF] - ENABLING/DISABLING THE ARROW BUTTONS

The up and down arrow buttons on the arms of the gallows can be clicked by any executioner, or any victim standing on a platform without an executioner, to raise or lower the beam. The buttons allow residents to use the gallows without using the podium, and even if the podium has not been rezzed.

You can disable these buttons by clicking [ARROWS OFF]. Doing this means that the gallows can only be operated by a resident standing at the podium.

The arrows can be re-enabled at any time by clicking [ARROWS ON].

3.6 [DEACTIVATE] - DEACTIVATING (AND MOVING) A GALLOWS

A Hydraulic Gallows can be “activated” or “deactivated”.

A deactivated gallows is a single Second Life “object”. It consists of just the floor, and the lower halves of the vertical arms.

This was how the gallows looked when you unpacked it for the first time – it was “deactivated”.

When you selected the number of nooses, you “activated” the gallows. This involved rezzing a number of separate objects: the overhead beam with the nooses is a single object, and each white circled-cross platform is a separate object.

So an activated 6 noose gallows with a pump consists of 9 separate objects: the base, the beam, 6 white circled-cross platforms, and the pump. These can be awkward to reposition together.

For this reason, if you need to move a gallows, the best thing to do is to first “deactivate” it again.

To do this, click [DEACTIVATE] from the main menu.

This will leave only the base, which you may then move or rotate easily. Once it is positioned exactly where you wish, you can reactivate the gallows by clicking [NOOSES], and choosing the number of nooses again (see above).

(You may also need to reapply any texture changes you made using the textures menu – see above.)
