Bright Chica

Car inspired by "Mini Moke", taxi in "The Prisoner". Drives, flies, wearable!

DESCRIPTION

The Bright Chica was inspired by the British "Mini Moke". The Moke was adapted from the Morris Mini-Minor (or "Mini") to an open, Jeep-like format, and used as both a military vehicle and sixties runaround. It famously featured as a public taxi in the Cult TV series "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan.

USING THE MENU

Click the Chica to display a menu of twelve buttons:

Drive mode: turns your Amiga into a traditional ground car. See "DRIVING" above.

Fly mode: turns your Amiga into a flying hover-car, supported by jets. See "FLYING" above.

Eject: unseats anyone in the passenger seat.

Set cam: displays a menu which lets you choose your camera position: the distance and angle from which you can see your car as you drive. The normal distance is 8 metres: choose 'Far' to view from 16m, and 'V.far' from 32m. The normal angle is 30 degrees: choose "low" to see the car from it's own level, "high" to see it from 60 degrees, and "over" to see it from directly overhead.

SL cam: releases the camera control, so that it returns to the usual Second Life camera position.

Lock cam: fixes the camera at its current position, so that it no longer moves to follow the car, but instead turns to keep it in view.

Roof on/off: opens or closes the roof canopy over the driver.

Roof image: displays a menu of texures for your roof canopy. Buttons include: "bicycle" (the penny-farthing symbol from 'The Prisoner'), "brown & white" (the striped canopy used by the taxi in 'The Prisoner'), "girl" (pink, with the slogan 'Girl Powered'), "13SL" (or 'I love (heart) SL'), "pirate" (skull and crossed swords), "prisoner" (words 'The Prisoner' in the typeface from the series), "taxi" (word 'taxi' in the typeface from the series), "uk" (British or 'union' flag), "usa" (stars and stripes), "white" (plain cream-white).

There is also a 'CUSTOM' button. Click this, and then say a texture UUID in chat: the texture will appear on the roof canopy. To find out the UUID of one of your textures, right-click it in your Inventory, click "Copy Asset UUID", and then press Control-V to paste it into your chat bar.

Plate image: displays a menu of textures to display on the Chica's number plate, with the same options as for the roof.

Car colour: display a menu of colours for the car exterior. Choose from white, grey, black, red, green, blue, yellow, purple, cyan, orange, pink, and gold.

Floor colour: display a menu of colours for the car interior. Choose from white, grey, black, red, green, blue, yellow, purple, cyan, orange, pink, and gold.

Horn: sounds the horn.

WEARING THE CHICA

You can also 'drive' your Chica by *wearing* it! In this way, you can take it anywhere, even through "no-rez" areas - and controlling it becomes as easy as walking or flying, as the car behaves just like an item of clothing. As you walk, the wheels go round, angling left and right as you turn: when you fly, the jets automatically appear. You can even teleport while wearing the Chica! You cannot take a passenger, or use the faster gears, but you may find this a fun and convenient way to enjoy the vehicle.

Instead of dragging it from your Inventory onto the ground, simply right-click it and click "Wear". Your Chica will attach itself to your body. Then simply use your normal walking and flying controls.

If you use an AO or 'Animation Override', you may need to switch it off while wearing your Chica, or you will seem to walk even while driving.

Depending on the height of your avatar, you may need to adjust the position of your Chica until it looks right. Right-click it and click "Edit...", then pull the red, blue and green arrows until the Chica is well placed.

To take off your Chica, right-click it, and click "Detach".
